My fifth adventure with the Chiang Mai “Walk and Talk” hiking Facebook group led me to the charming town of Pai, a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque hills of northern Thailand. This journey was unique as it included a two-night stay and two days of hiking in and around Pai. Promising unforgettable experiences and breathtaking scenery. This post “Exploring Pai’s Treasures: A Two-Day Hiking Expedition Part 1” summarizes my experience of arrival in Pai and our stay there.
From Chiang Mai to Pai
Our adventure began with a 5 PM meetup on a Friday. To make the journey more convenient, we had organized a van for transportation. However, it’s important to note that the road to Pai can be long and challenging, especially for those prone to motion sickness. To address this, some participants chose to ride their own motorbikes, a wise choice for experienced and cautious riders. It’s a decision I would consider for my next Pai trip, as it can offer a more comfortable and personalized journey.
Arriving in Pai
Upon our arrival in Pai, it was time to relax and unwind. We indulged in a delightful dinner and settled into a cozy hotel with rooms available at an affordable rate of just 400 baht per night. What made this hotel even more appealing? Its convenient location within walking distance of Pai’s vibrant city center and its lively bars. While we didn’t extensively explore the town itself on our first night, we did venture out for a few drinks at local bars, enhancing our Pai experience with some nighttime fun and camaraderie.

Regrettably, I don’t have the exact name of the hotel we stayed at in Pai, but I can tell you that it was approximately a 15-minute walk from JIKKO BAR, a place we visited for drinks on both nights. This proximity to a popular local spot added to the convenience and enjoyment of our stay.
