Explore the Scenic Hills of Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium

If you’re an animal lover visiting Chiang Mai, than Explore the Scenic Hills of Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium. One of the biggest zoos in the region, it’s situated on the road to Doi Suthep and features a unique hilly landscape that sets it apart from other zoos.

Upon arrival, you can rent golf carts near the entrance, which can be a convenient option if you’re planning to explore the entire zoo. However, if you’re on a budget, walking is also possible, although it can be a bit challenging due to the zoo’s size and terrain. Most visitors prefer to ride in their cars or on the golf carts, stopping at dedicated areas to see the animals up close and take photos.

If you’re planning to visit, my advice is to drive or rent a golf cart, especially if you want to see everything. The zoo also offers a bus service, but you’ll need to stick to a particular schedule.

Tickets

Ticket prices for the zoo and aquarium are 290 Baht (7 GBP or 8.50 EUR) per adult, as of 2019 (http://www.chiangmai.zoothailand.org/en/ewt_news.php?nid=173). Note that you’ll need to purchase separate tickets for the Panda exhibit.

Animals, birds, and fish in Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium

The Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium is home to a wide variety of animals, birds, and fish. You can even feed elephants, giraffes, and other animals, as well as scats in the aquarium. While there are food and drink stands available, they are limited, so it’s a good idea to bring snacks and water with you.

Finally, if you have time, be sure to catch one of the animal shows at the zoo. Overall, our visit to the Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium was not busy, so we had plenty of space and time to take pictures and enjoy the scenery.
