You might be offered options to choose from, and you can always ask for a specific model. Yamaha GT 125 and Honda Click are common models available for rent. Based on my experience, you can rent a scooter for 160 Baht or 180 Baht per day (4 – 4.5 GBP or 4.5 – 5 EUR on 23 March 2020). Prices will depend on the model, your negotiation skills, and rental duration. It’s a good idea to visit a few rental shops to compare prices and get the best offer.
Rules and Safety
Once you get your scooter, there are a few rules to follow. Don’t drive to Doi Suthep, a popular tourist destination, because it’s a steep uphill climb that most 125cc scooters struggle with. Return the bike on time and with a full tank. Gas stations are everywhere, and you can fill up for around 100 Baht (2.50 GBP or 3 EUR).
Taking Pictures of the Bike
It’s always better to be safe than sorry. Take pictures of the rented scooter and helmet to have proof of any pre-existing damage. This way, you can avoid paying for damages that you didn’t cause.
