Working Visa In Thailand: Navigating Thailand’s Bureaucracy – 90-Days Report

Even if your visa is granted for a two-year period, it’s important to note that you must still visit the immigration office every 90 days. While this may seem cumbersome, many companies, including mine, handle this process on behalf of their employees. However, if you choose to do it independently, be prepared for potential bureaucratic challenges. Alternatively, you can explore the online option, as detailed below:

According to The Immigration Act, B.E.2522, the foreigner who has received a temporary stay permit and stayed in the Kingdom of Thailand over 90 days must notify his residence to immigration officer every 90 days. This notification can be done via the internet at www.immigration.go.th , bangkok.immigration.go.th

Please note that while this information is taken from the  Immigration Bureau. Although I have not personally used this method, as my company handles the process, it can be a convenient alternative.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that you can complete the 90-days notification procedure a few weeks prior to the exact due date. This gives flexibility for your travel plans and avoiding any potential complications.

Thailand Digital Work Permit

Thailand now offers the Thailand Digital Work Permit app, available for both Android and iOS devices. This innovative app is the outcome of the “Single Window” project. It was launched in collaboration between the Office of the Board Investment (BoI), the Labour Ministry, and the Immigration Bureau.

Upon visiting the BoI branch, you will receive a username and password to access the app. In Chiang Mai, for example, the branch is conveniently located in a small separate building adjacent to the main immigration office building. The app itself features two pages displaying your personal details, visa information. It’s even provides translations in both Thai and English languages. While the image display function seems limited, the app offers a QR code that, when scanned, redirects you to the government portal with the same information

I found the screenshots of this Digital Work Permit and the printed information from the QR code useful when I needed documentation for purchasing a motorbike or obtaining a Thai driving license.
